Dear Brother & Sister of the Faith,
Thank you for sharing your story of how the Holy Spirit worked in your lives, so other people were led to serve our Triune God. We, as servants of our blessed God, need to allow Him to work through us in spreading the “Good News” to more of God’s people throughout our land.
I was first drew to read more about your “story” because of the label of “Funeral Evangelism” in the title. Since the sudden earthly death of my Christian husband two years ago I have been searching through study of His Word of how God wants me to serve Him with what talents He has given me. A few months about my husband’s earthly death I joined a six weeks program called “Grieving After Loss” at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in State College, which had been recommended to me from the Western Pennsylvania group called CORE, which stands for Center for Organ Recovery and Education. It was an excellent program, and even though I am a Missouri Synod Lutheran, I serve on their “GOALS” committee which gives service (meals and leads program) of the “Grieving After Loss” program. I am also a volunteer spokesperson for CORE leading programs informing people of the need for organ donations. Since I am an officer for the Eastern District Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, which covers western NY, all of Pennsylvania, and western Maryland, I have joined with another widow and together we led a day workshop in Wilkes Barre, PA entitled, “A Time for Everything” (Esslesiastes 3: 1-8). We tried to give the participants a better understanding of the grief that often accompanies loss and presented ways for coping with losses of many kinds including death of loved ones, loss of relationships, etc. Now where is God leading me? For now I send sympathy cards with letters to those people experiencing a loss in their lives of a loved one, as well as volunteer working for Lutheran World Relief. I will continue my earthly journey waiting to “listen” to God calling me to the next chapter in my life.
May the Triune God continue to bless your lives through His ministry to others.
